and.. i have to add.. if you're not familiar with Disembodied.. please take a moment and familiarize yourself with the band.. their latest offering is a compilation a collection of out of print, rare and unreleased tracks. re-mastered by the band and so heavy and brutal listening to it may just make you kick your grandma in the shinbone.!! "Psalms of Sheol" (2009) can be found at Prime Directive Records but their discography is fairly extensive for an hardcore/metal band to come out of the mid 90's hardcore era.. well not really "extensive" but the impact made by this band not only on fans but other bands influenced by what they've accomplished was and continues to be tremendous. definitely one of my favorite bands and while, this is probably gonna sond nuts, all the tracks from "Existence In Suicide" are included on "Psalms of Sheol" i still need the cd for my collection it remains the last cd i need to complete it. anyway.. please help if you can and i just noticed this kinda turned out to be a Disembodied infomercial.!! haha they're definitely worthy of the time it took to type it though. make sure to check them out.. you'll thank yourself for it. it is a .nfo file you can use notepad to view it but i made it a .nfo file for the simple reason to make it as easy for you as i can.. meaning that the links are clickable only when using a .nfo viewer. you do not need one but if you just want to click links without copy/paste them into your browser you'll need one.. they're small, easy and free.. the one i use is called j.a.n.e. (just another nasty editor) i've used it for years and like it but there's a bunch so just google nfo viewers and you can just try'em till you find one you like.. they're all free so if you come acros one you have to pay for just skip it..

The Set Up

with cassette transfers there's no need to be an audiophile because.. Vinyl is king, CDA is 2nd then cassette sadly comes in last concerning quality so my set up is simple.. i use a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card, double-ended 3.5mm stereo cable and a Sony TC-WE475 cassette deck. in my opinion i think software is key for improving audio for cassette transfers.. finding a nice filter and such. as for the recording and cutting of tracks.. i use a program that came with the sound card but there's a free app called Audacity that works awesome as well.. as for the software i use for trying to improving quality.. you can use Adobe Audition which is pretty pricey, unless you know "things" ;) or the app i use "Diamond Cut Audio" which is about a 3rd of the cost of Audition and i've tried both but like DC8 a lot more.

normally i post the tapes cover but in Nitro's case i am compelled to post the bands member photo's from the inside cover.!! just so you get a good idea what you're getting yourself into if you decide to download the release.. for the average leather and denim clad metalhead back in the day glam was most certainly not cool back in it's inception but if you're an old dude, like myself, somehow reliving the music you seem enjoy it now.. at least i do anyway.. download it ASAP. but don't worry you won't find any Winger'esq bands posted here. visually glam, yes.. metal.. definitely. Batio Was crowned as the number 1 fastest guitarist in the world.

after transferring this tape i have been absolutely mesmerized by it and listening to it over and over.!! haha the audio turned out excellent as well.. i've been tweaking the last few releases but this one turned out pretty awesome. GET IT asap.!

Antiseen "The Destructo Years '84-'86" 1990

time for a little, more, punk.. Antiseen was a punk band from Charlotte, North
Carolina.

not 100% sure of the release date for this.. couldn't find anything on the net
about it and nothing listed in the liner notes on the inside cover except for
this "TRACKS 7-17 Recorded NOV./DEC. '85 Released OCT. '88 "Honour Amoung
Thieves" Bona-Fide/Chopper 001" and i actually still have the receipt, as i do
for most of all my tapes but the ink is to faded and the scanner doesn't pick it
up, and i bought the tape in 1990 so by the last release date being 1988 and i
bought it in 1990 i'm calling it at it's release date 1990 so if anyone has any
clue of the real date and maybe a little info on this tape let me know i'd
appreciate it. i did manage to get a decent scan of the receipt for this one..
check the "inside cover" scan.

kinda odd.. "11-Bonus_Track_(Gun_Control)" not listed on tape or cover and on the
lp release there's 2 aditional tracks not on the tape..  "Open your Eyes" and
"Gun Control"

Life Sentence was a Punk/Hardcore band from Chicago.

i was first and foremost a metalhead but i was most definitely into punk as well
but most of the tapes, the real deal, Good, tapes i have are from the tape
trading days.. it's how bands became known everywhere other than their home towns
really. because "real" punks where dead broke.. stole just about everything they
needed to survive and if a punk came into any money at all it was just spent on
heroin and getting drunk anyway haha so a home, food, equipment weren't really a
priority so when it came time to put out a release it was usually a DIY release
and/or a live recording whether it was a recorded at a show or in a garage but
there where a few who did it right.. so there will for sure be more punk to come.
back then though.. in the early 80's.. metalheads and the punks really didn't mix
well so if you where into metal you didn't really fly both flags publicly haha so
dumb in hindsight. can't we all.. can't we all just get along.!! ha sorry about
the punk stereotype.. i apologize.. esp to you ian haha i know there where
definitely more than a few very hard working bands from the era.

this comp was my introduction to the mighty genre "grindcore". another one of
those epiphany moments listening to this release.. at the time these bands where
the fastest, most brutal, most chaotic.. ect.. it left me dumbfounded thinking
wtf just happened.?!?! at the time this style was huge for the euro's and it took
some time for us americans to catch on but we finally did Thanks to a little help
from the fine folks at Earache. "Grind Crusher" was such an important release
for, soon to be, fans of grind, death, noise and industrial metal.

Possessed "Seven Churches" 1985

when i first heard the song "Swing Of The Axe" on the Metal Massacre Vol 6 comp
in 1985, which i have and as long as it still plays i'll transfer to, i was
floored and thought WTF is this and i need more of this immediately..
Possessed are arguably the forefathers of the genre Death Metal.. infact.. their
1984 demo entitled "Death Metal" and the song with the same name on that demo
later to be re-recorded and re-released on their first full length "Seven
Churches" they are indeed the first band who coined the phrase "Death Metal"
their influence was and is so strong that many bands from then to now still cite
Possessed as the creators of the genre.

Jeff Becerra, original vocal/bass, was shot in a robbery attempt in 1989 and
paralyzed from the chest down is still holdin it down and fronting the band with
members of the band "Sadistic Intent" backing him. all kinda cats argue "one
original member, they should change the bands name" but i say Jeff is the sole
reason for the bands memorable sound. "Possessed" and "Seven Churches" was a
pivotal release for the genre.

it was discussed a long time that some record company might get the rights for
the whole back catalogue of the Combat Records. Well the dream came true for
Century Media after all which did a real cultural job when getting the rights in
order to re-issue the whole back catalogue of Possessed and it was a worth of
every penny indeed. the old Possessed albums of course are available in a high
quality cd format can be found kinda easily in normal record stores nowadays, as
is the case for most if not all of what i post but i have the tapes so get into
it. or not..

these tapes are BYR (back-yard-remastered).
