Classic Layouts: Zao Demo Tapes

originally from parkersburg west virginia then later greensburg pennsylvania zao was one of the few bands around at the time responsible for Christ-centered hardcore, Spirit filled hardcore, Christcore.. etc.. these 2 demos feature the original, Original line up, Eric Reeder, Roy Goudy, Mic Cox and Jesse Smith and if you're aware of this band you'll know there has been many line up changes over the years and they took a lot of crap for it to BUT in their defense.. every single evolution of the band was amazing, right now they have a solid line up, if i remember right, since 2006 i have been into the band forever it seems and right now they're soon to release a new studio album, i hope, before the end of the year.! anyway.. on to the content...

Classic Layouts: Converge "Caring And Killing"

this cd was originally supposed to be to be an eu. only release. the the label who released it kinda got greedy, among being totally shady in other aspects and started distributing it here in the u.s. at a crazy high price, way more than just an "import" price would regularly be, so Converge being the totally awesome band and dudes that they are took it upon themselves to have it re-released here in the u.s. and am so glad they did because to this day as amazing as their catalog is.. this release remains my favorite. it's a compilation cd and i'd love it if 2 things would happen.. 1. it would get remastered and 2. all songs re-recorded. we need to do a mass email/facebook/twitter/smoke signals/morse code campaign to Hydra Head Records and/or Converge themselves facebook / twitter for at least a remastered release. not sure they'd go for it being that it's a compilation release though and another thing that'd be awesome is another compilation cd with all their splits, 7" releases and singles.!! yes indeed sweet for us non record nerds. at least for me it's to late in the game to try to track down all the vinyl releases.. i don't have the energy nor the loot needed for such a herculean task because it seems like dudes who have all the sweet oldies and for whatever reason want to sell them it's kinda like they're planning their retirement off of the sell of the record and i don't mind seeing someone make a buck or two but some of these cats are lookin to make a house payment from a sell but whatever, i'm definitely psyched for their new release and dvd.!! anyway.. on to the content...

by the way.. blogger resizes the images for ease of bandwidth for viewing but if you "save as" the images off of the site they will save in the resolution i uploaded and they are.. covers and inlay img's 1600x800, cds 800x800 and tray card img's 1000x800. these are edited and resized by myself from the original scans because of img size and img file sizes so if for any reason you want the original scans let me know and i'll upload them somewhere for you.

Classic Layouts: 3D House Of Beef

ok so while i'm trying to find a new home for all my cassette transfers i'm going to do something new, new to my blog but an idea i like from another blog i follow.. xSTUCK IN THE PASTx and if you're into mid to late 90's hardcore it's defiantly right up your alley, anyway they have a feature called "Classic Layouts" which i like a lot insomuch that i wanna add the concept to my blog although i will not adhere to any specific era or genre i will post, what i think are, fairly rare releases and the bands and genres i like.. one thing you will hear a lot tho, actually a sentence.. "i discovered this band on the old mp3.com website" and that is true and is true in the case of 3D House Of Beef it was such a good site back when it started i found so many sub genres and bands i had no idea existed it was one of those epiphany moments because at the time i was pretty much into whatever was mainstream and from lack of information i only knew those bands and finding more bands like them you looked at the liner notes inside the covers.. bands they thanked, toured with, label mates.. ect.. anyway i was slow to catch on to the personal computer but soon as i did it was like the dam broke.. so many awesome bands discovered, new sub genres and there was 2 websites pivotal to my discoveries.. the lesser of the 2 was listen.com and the more important was mp3.com MAN i loved mp3.com.!! ok onto the content...

The Death Of A Blog

..so yeah i haven't really been paying attention, merely out of all the election crap there's always something singled out "they're" gonna "fix" but rarely ever really get to, so not sure how serious or if sopa had been passed but i just noticed every single file i had uploaded to mediafire had been deleted with no contact or explanation sent to me i mean we all know what time it is but still i should have got some kind of notice.. anyway.. with megaupload getting busted maybe mediafire started an early campaign to get rid of files to avert the eyes of justice away from them.? idk but has anyone on any other file host had the same experience.?

anyway.. this is goodbye, for now. maybe somewhere down the cyber road i'll find another online host to store files but until then.. go outside and see the sun i know that's where i'll be.
