Dub Me A Tape

ok so not much goin on lately thanks to the deletion of all my transfers that led to a huge lack of motivation for what i wanted to accomplish. so now what, you may be asking yourself.? ok here's what i wanna do... lets say you have a tape and you want it digitized but either you lack the hardware or the absolutely astounding, utterly astonishing, simply wonderful, incredibly marvelous computer savvy i just happen to possess.. here's all you need to do.. first, dup your tape, so you don't have to send the original and i don't have to send it back (this will lesson the quality slightly so just make sure you use a new blank tape or one that's never been recorded on) then email me for my address and i will reply with my address, you send me the tape, if you have mediamail in your area use that because it's pretty cheap shipping.

my equipment isn't exactly stuff you'd find in the hands of an audiophile but it's decent enough to produce really good quality (SOUND CARD: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS TAPE DECK: Sony TC-WE475) and for format.. for mp3 i use LAME 3.98 (specify bitrate you desire, if you're not sure i suggest V0 VBR) or i can do FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) so specify your desired format in your email.

i will upload it so a filehost and email you the link. i will not post it here unless you want it posted here otherwise you can post it on your blog or do whatever you want to do with it. i don't want any money for doing this and is why i suggest you making a copy and sending that and you can do your own scans but i do have one request and it is.. if you do have access to a scanner i would like it if you'd compress the image files (winrar or winzip or whatever you use) and send me copies, please send the image files unedited and not optimized.

so yeah that's about the long and short of it. it'd be really cool to maybe check out a band that i maybe missed and have never heard before OH that reminds me.. i prefer doing genres i've previously posted here but i will do just about anything you send.

Classic Layouts: Zao Demo Tapes

originally from parkersburg west virginia then later greensburg pennsylvania zao was one of the few bands around at the time responsible for Christ-centered hardcore, Spirit filled hardcore, Christcore.. etc.. these 2 demos feature the original, Original line up, Eric Reeder, Roy Goudy, Mic Cox and Jesse Smith and if you're aware of this band you'll know there has been many line up changes over the years and they took a lot of crap for it to BUT in their defense.. every single evolution of the band was amazing, right now they have a solid line up, if i remember right, since 2006 i have been into the band forever it seems and right now they're soon to release a new studio album, i hope, before the end of the year.! anyway.. on to the content...

Classic Layouts: Converge "Caring And Killing"

this cd was originally supposed to be to be an eu. only release. the the label who released it kinda got greedy, among being totally shady in other aspects and started distributing it here in the u.s. at a crazy high price, way more than just an "import" price would regularly be, so Converge being the totally awesome band and dudes that they are took it upon themselves to have it re-released here in the u.s. and am so glad they did because to this day as amazing as their catalog is.. this release remains my favorite. it's a compilation cd and i'd love it if 2 things would happen.. 1. it would get remastered and 2. all songs re-recorded. we need to do a mass email/facebook/twitter/smoke signals/morse code campaign to Hydra Head Records and/or Converge themselves facebook / twitter for at least a remastered release. not sure they'd go for it being that it's a compilation release though and another thing that'd be awesome is another compilation cd with all their splits, 7" releases and singles.!! yes indeed sweet for us non record nerds. at least for me it's to late in the game to try to track down all the vinyl releases.. i don't have the energy nor the loot needed for such a herculean task because it seems like dudes who have all the sweet oldies and for whatever reason want to sell them it's kinda like they're planning their retirement off of the sell of the record and i don't mind seeing someone make a buck or two but some of these cats are lookin to make a house payment from a sell but whatever, i'm definitely psyched for their new release and dvd.!! anyway.. on to the content...

by the way.. blogger resizes the images for ease of bandwidth for viewing but if you "save as" the images off of the site they will save in the resolution i uploaded and they are.. covers and inlay img's 1600x800, cds 800x800 and tray card img's 1000x800. these are edited and resized by myself from the original scans because of img size and img file sizes so if for any reason you want the original scans let me know and i'll upload them somewhere for you.

Classic Layouts: 3D House Of Beef

ok so while i'm trying to find a new home for all my cassette transfers i'm going to do something new, new to my blog but an idea i like from another blog i follow.. xSTUCK IN THE PASTx and if you're into mid to late 90's hardcore it's defiantly right up your alley, anyway they have a feature called "Classic Layouts" which i like a lot insomuch that i wanna add the concept to my blog although i will not adhere to any specific era or genre i will post, what i think are, fairly rare releases and the bands and genres i like.. one thing you will hear a lot tho, actually a sentence.. "i discovered this band on the old mp3.com website" and that is true and is true in the case of 3D House Of Beef it was such a good site back when it started i found so many sub genres and bands i had no idea existed it was one of those epiphany moments because at the time i was pretty much into whatever was mainstream and from lack of information i only knew those bands and finding more bands like them you looked at the liner notes inside the covers.. bands they thanked, toured with, label mates.. ect.. anyway i was slow to catch on to the personal computer but soon as i did it was like the dam broke.. so many awesome bands discovered, new sub genres and there was 2 websites pivotal to my discoveries.. the lesser of the 2 was listen.com and the more important was mp3.com MAN i loved mp3.com.!! ok onto the content...

The Death Of A Blog

..so yeah i haven't really been paying attention, merely out of all the election crap there's always something singled out "they're" gonna "fix" but rarely ever really get to, so not sure how serious or if sopa had been passed but i just noticed every single file i had uploaded to mediafire had been deleted with no contact or explanation sent to me i mean we all know what time it is but still i should have got some kind of notice.. anyway.. with megaupload getting busted maybe mediafire started an early campaign to get rid of files to avert the eyes of justice away from them.? idk but has anyone on any other file host had the same experience.?

anyway.. this is goodbye, for now. maybe somewhere down the cyber road i'll find another online host to store files but until then.. go outside and see the sun i know that's where i'll be.

Aliens/UFO's

ok here's my opinion.. even for an advanced civilization "interstellar" space travel would be impossible unless "they" have discovered how to time travel, if "wormholes" really do exist or if black holes can be utilized in some way simply because of the vast distances especially for all the small ufo's, i can possibly imagine the trip being made without the aforementioned options if there's a huge "mothership" because they'd be able to have generations come and go during the the trip and they'd have room for supplies.

without a doubt i definitely believe in life elsewhere, i'm just on the fence about all the sightings, video's.. ect.. of the smaller ufo's and by "smaller i mean ufo's that you'd imagine to have a crew of maybe a handful of beings rather than a ship with possibility an amount of a small city or whatever, anyway.. i'm definitely interested, i always watch any and all videos, read interviews, ect.. waiting for that fateful day when "they" finally introduce themselves.

DISCLOSURE. in all i've read about and video watched it seems like all the believers seem to be pushing for disclosure from our government, i'm guessing from instances like the roswell spaceship crash and the sort and i'd like to know as well but if that's what they're waiting for just so they could have the proof, to me it's kinda dumb, 1. because the truth, i believe, will come from "one of us" or themselves touching down then saying Hi we're here where's the party at.?! and 2. why would anyone think and it seems like to me that's what everyone feels, but why would anyone believe if aliens made contact that they'd only deal with our government.? anyway.. the reason i'm making this post is because of a video i just watched that looks absolutely astonishing to me and if it's real i have a few observations.. one is "they" must look upon their ufo's like we do our cars because in this video alone there's many different ships in a short amount of time and by them being small it coincides with my "motheship" theory. watch the video if you haven't already...

i kinda wanna side with stephen hawking.. i'm not 100% convinced that we should have or continue to broadcast our concordance but who knows, we'll see soon enough i'm sure.

i don't know if this is still felt amongst people not in our world but i'd like to point out something that's bothered me over the years concerning Agnostic Front, i have quite a few friends who are black and every time we talk about music sooner or later it leads to AG and how they feel they where/are a skinhead or simply a racist band and to me that's like saying Ian McKay was a racist because of Minor Threats song "Guilty Of Being White" both never made sense, you only have to read AG's lyrics and you'll immediately realize they where definitely NOT a racist band whatsoever, in fact they where quite the opposite so if anyone out there has ever thought this or still thinks this, consider the myth dispelled.

my thinking about this is that AG's albums had military style lettering, they wore camo's and combat boots.. while this was the attire of the skinhead they only adopted this as their uniform later, the real reason for punk/hardcore/metal dudes jockin' camo's and combat boots is that it was born out of necessity because military surplus camo's and combat boots where cheap and they lasted, plain and simple, that's it.

anyway.. "Turning Point" because hardcore was coming into another evolution of itself and it was most certainly very interesting seeing it happen and the late 80's to early 90's there where a lot of awesome bands finding their way on their own and what was coming through was amazing.

just a quick note tho.. while the bands where going through a transition and evolution if it wasn't for a few new labels also emerging at the time who knows what would have happend because most of the underground labels we loved at the time where still actively searching out thrash and metal related bands, hardcore was just a footnote at the time so a lot of the bands, as do we, owe a debt of gratitude to the newer labels taking chances on what was "becoming" in the hardcore genre in that era.
